JAX

Meet Jax!

Jax is a 3 year-old Golden Retriever, who was adopted from Facebook when he was just over two years old. Unfortunately, despite his family's best efforts, Jax has not been friendly with the other Golden Retriever, in the home on multiple occasions. Jax needs to find a new home where he can be the only dog. (It is important to note that the trainer did not have issues with Jax and other dogs while he was boarding with them for 3 weeks).

Jax is a loving, intelligent, and joyful dog. He enjoys going for walks and is generally quite chill, happily sleeping during the day. He is playful, independent, and has a happy-go-lucky attitude.

He is house trained and sleeps in his crate at night and sometimes during the day, though he prefers not to be in the crate during the day. He knows commands such as sit, down, stay (though not for long), crate, in your bed, and shake a paw, and he sits politely for his dinner until given the okay. On a leash, Jax can behave well but may bark at other dogs, especially if they bark at him; however, he is improving and is generally good most of the time.

Jax has shown aggression towards the other dog, making a single-dog home essential. He also experiences separation anxiety and is currently on medication to help manage it, and we will assist with continuing his medication or weaning him off as appropriate. He also has selective listening and will choose not to listen if he is not on his leash. He needs work on his recall. Jax barks at the neighbor's cat, so his behavior with cats is uncertain.

Jax does well with teens and has allowed children to pat him without any issues.

No Health Concerns: Jax is healthy.

Jax would thrive in an experienced home where he can receive plenty of exercise. He jumps into the car happily but stresses a lot once inside. He has undergone intensive 3.5 weeks of training at Friendly K9, equipping him with many skills. Jax comes with his crate, bed, raised bed, bowls, collars, leash, antler to chew on, food, and medication.

Jax is an awesome dog who would make a wonderful pet for an experienced owner with the time to exercise and care for him.
