Stormie - FOSTER NEEDED / FOSTER TO ADOPT

Healthy and strong now, after being starved in the past, Stormie is an energetic, active girl who thrives with companionship. She loves to rough-house and play with other dogs and would do best in a home with a dog buddy to keep her engaged and entertained.

She’s very smart and learns quickly, making her highly trainable with the right guidance and patience. Stormie’s story is a heartbreaking one. She was brought into the shelter after being severely malnourished—her ribs were visibly protruding, and she was starving. Her previous owner had brought chickens into the home, and when Stormie, in her desperate hunger, killed one, the owner took Stormie to the shelter to have her put down.

Now, after being well-nourished and cared for, Stormie is a healthy, vibrant dog. While her past experiences with chickens have left her with some prey drive, it’s possible she could adapt well to a home without those triggers—especially as she is no longer starving. Stormie’s interactions with cats are uncertain at this time; her history suggests she may not be cat-friendly, but we are hopeful that with proper training, and as she settles into a stable environment, she may improve.

Stormie is incredibly smart and picks up on things quickly, making her an ideal candidate for training. However, given her past and current circumstances, she will need time, consistency, and patience from her future family. If given the proper structure, Stormie could thrive in an environment where she is active and engaged, with plenty of space to play and learn.

She should not live with cats, but it is clear she enjoys companionship with other dogs. Stormie would do best in an active home with an experienced dog owner who can provide her with the structure and attention she needs.
